What is inbound marketing?

Time to boost the success of your business with a focus on inbound marketing! Traditional outbound marketing blindly posts information in the hope of engagement. Inbound marketing concentrates on creating incentives for your customers to find you.

  • Targeted – Attract and engage with customer demand
  • Build trust – Increase confidence in your brand or business
  • Profitable – Content that leads to sales

How does inbound marketing work?

Attract, convert, close, delight.

Inbound marketing strategies centre on attracting customers through content that is relevant and helpful for them — not interruptive. With inbound marketing, potential customers and clients find you through channels like search engines, blogs, and social media.

Inbound marketing reduces the competition for potential customers attention. Content designed and created to match customer demand with your business supply attracts your ideal customers and clients. Inbound marketing attracts qualified leads and builds trust and credibility for your business.

HubSpot invented the term “inbound marketing” back in 2006; the strategy consists of four stages.

  • Attract – draw the right users to your business

You don’t want just any traffic to our site; you want the right traffic. You want people visiting your website who are most likely to become prospects, and, ultimately, happy customers. Who are the “right” people? Our ideal customers or clients, also known as our buyer personas. Buyer personas are holistic models of what your customers are really like, inside and out. Personas comprise the goals, challenges, pain points, common objections to products and services, as well as personal and demographic information. Your personas are the personalities around whom your whole business is built.

Some of the most valuable tools to attract the right users to your site are: search engine optimisation, content marketing and social media marketing.

  • Convert – deliver offers in return for contact information

Once you’ve attracted the right website visitors to your site, the next step is to convert those visitors into leads by obtaining their contact information. Contact information is the most precious currency there is for an online marketer. For your visitors to share that currency voluntarily, you need to offer them something in return! That “payment” comes in the form of great content – like eBooks, calculators, whitepapers, or tip sheets – whatever information would be fascinating and valuable to each of your personas.

Some of the most reliable tools in converting visitors to leads include forms, calls-to-actions and landing pages.

  • Close – monitor and engage

You’ve drawn the right visitors to your website and converted them to leads, but now you need to grow those leads into customers and clients. How can you most efficiently accomplish this feat? This is when tools such as email marketing, customer relationship management and marketing automation come into play. By continuing to monitor and nurture your leads by sending the relevant information they need in their buying journey, can build trust with a prospect and help them become more ready to buy or hire your services.

  • Delight – turn customers into advocates of your business

Inbound marketing is all about providing exceptional content to our users, whether they be visitors, leads, or existing customers and clients. Just because a customer has already bought your product or and paid an invoice does not mean you should forget about them! Continuing to engage with, delight, and (hopefully) upsell to their current customer base and become happy promoters of your business, products and services!

Inbound marketing is a proven approach that works for the best companies in the world, and it has helped launch many startups to stellar success.
